Celebrating the Growth of the Duke of Edinburgh Programme
Back
The Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) programme at our school has seen remarkable growth, with nearly 200 participants successfully completing their Bronze and Silver qualifiers. This season's activities kicked off near Wells-next-the-Sea last weekend, marking the beginning of another exciting journey for our pupils.
The Year 9s, who embarked on their expedition, demonstrated exceptional teamwork, resilience, and kindness. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work and dedication. Alice Gray, our DofE Lead, shared her pride in the pupils' performance: "The Year 9s were fantastic and a real credit to us. They showed excellent teamwork and resilience throughout and should be really proud of their achievement, particularly across a very warm couple of days."
Among the many highlights, seeing the teamwork & helpfulness with washing up, the group's support when first aid for blisters and grazes occurred, and everyone's willingness to share the load when some were fatigued with the surprising amount of sunshine really stood out. These acts of kindness and cooperation made the experience memorable for everyone involved.
Kyle, a Year 9 pupil, expressed his enthusiasm:
"It was an amazing experience. We all worked together and supported each other, and it felt great to be part of such a caring group."
A huge thank you goes to our staff, whose dedication and hard work ensured the pupils were motivated and well looked after throughout the expedition.
Congratulations to all the pupils for their achievements, and best of luck to those planning to pursue their Silver awards next year. Let's continue to celebrate and support the growth of the DofE programme at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy!
