Last week, Charter Academy buzzed with excitement as we welcomed our future Year 7 students for an unforgettable Transition Week! Our incoming Year 6 pupils stepped into their new school with wide eyes, open minds, and boundless energy, ready to explore what life at Charter is all about.

From the moment they arrived, students were immersed in a full secondary school experience—complete with timetables, new subjects, and a whole lot of fun. They tackled core subjects with enthusiasm, explored the wonders of humanities, and got creative in philosophy, performing arts, music, and PSHE. Whether they were debating big ideas, learning new rhythms, or expressing themselves on stage, every lesson was a chance to shine to be awarded the legendary Golden Ticket!

Each morning began with time spent in tutor groups, where students learned about Charter’s vibrant school culture, our values, and the all-important house system. The friendly competition kicked off early with inter-house point challenges that brought out teamwork & a healthy dose of rivalry!

One of the highlights of the week was the chance to meet new friends and future classmates. From classroom activities to break-time chats, bonds were formed that will carry into September and beyond. And what better way to celebrate a week of new beginnings than with a silent disco and a family BBQ? The energy was electric as students danced, laughed, and shared stories with their families and new teachers.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents and carers who supported their children each day—whether it was the morning drop-off, the afternoon pick-up, or joining us for the “Meet the Team” evening and the family celebration. Your involvement made the week even more special.

Kerrie Nichols, who will be Head of Year 7 in September, shared her excitement:

“It’s been incredible to see how quickly our new students have settled in. Their respect, kindness, and courage have been inspiring. I can’t wait to see them grow and thrive at Charter!”

And perhaps the best summary came from one of our Year 6 students, beaming after a French taster session:

“I loved learning French! I didn’t know school could be this fun. I can’t wait to come back and learn more!”

As the sun set on a week full of discovery and new friendships, one thing was clear—our future Year 7s are ready to soar. Welcome to Charter Academy, Class of 2025. We’re so glad you’re here!
