Activities Week 2025: A Week of Wonder, Discovery, and New Horizons
Back
In a spectacular celebration of learning beyond the classroom, every KS3 student took part in Activities Week 2025, an unforgettable programme packed with over 30 trips, workshops, and immersive experiences. From international travel to creative masterclasses, the week was a bold showcase of ambition, curiosity, and opportunity—broadening horizons and inspiring futures.
A World of Experiences
The week’s crown jewel was the residential trip to Marielle in Aix-en-Provence, where students explored the Cosquer Caves, hiked through the Provençal mountains, and immersed themselves in French culture. “It was like stepping into another world,” said Harry, Year 9. “I’ve never travelled abroad before, and now I’m thinking about studying languages!”
Back in the UK, students were swept up in the magic of the West End, attending live musical productions that brought literature and drama to life. Others explored the Science Museum, where interactive exhibits sparked new interests in physics, space, and innovation.
From Hogwarts to High-Speed Thrills
A visit to the Harry Potter Studios enchanted fans and film buffs alike, offering a behind-the-scenes look at set design, special effects, and storytelling. Meanwhile, adrenaline junkies took on the rollercoasters at Pleasurewood Hills and Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach, while others got behind the wheel in driving experiences in Norwich, learning about road safety and vehicle control.
“I never thought I’d be driving a car at 15!” said Daniel, Year 9. “It’s made me want to learn more about mechanics and maybe even go into engineering.”
Creativity, Culture, and Careers
The week also featured a dazzling array of creative workshops. Students learned to DJ, mastering beatmatching and mixing in a high-energy session that blended music with tech. Others stepped back in time with a 1950s Hollywood Glamour hairstyling masterclass, or got hands-on in a bread-making workshop, discovering the science and art of baking.
In the car racing workshop, students designed, built, and raced their own model cars—combining engineering, teamwork, and a healthy dose of competition. “It was so cool to see our designs come to life,” said Maya, Year 8. “I didn’t think I liked technology, but now I’m hooked!”
Learning from the Past, Building for the Future
Students also explored local geology and historic sites, gaining a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the region’s rich heritage. At the Food Museum in Stowmarket, they delved into the history of farming and food production, connecting past and present through interactive exhibits.
Meanwhile, career-focused activities gave students a taste of the working world. From retail and business placements to engineering, carpentry, and hospitality, pupils gained real-world experience and insight into future pathways.
Looking Ahead to 2026
The success of Activities Week 2025 has set a new benchmark for enrichment and engagement. Teachers, families, and students alike are already buzzing with excitement for Activities Week 2026, which promises to be even more ambitious, inclusive, and inspiring.
“This week wasn’t just fun—it changed how I see the world,” said Leija, Year 9. “I’ve discovered new interests, made new friends, and now I’m thinking about careers I’d never even considered.”
With its blend of adventure, creativity, and real-world experiences, Activities Week 2025 has proven that education doesn’t stop at the classroom door—it’s everywhere, and it’s for everyone.
Bring on 2026!
