There was a buzz of excitement at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy today as students celebrated a fantastic set of GCSE results.

This year, 51% of pupils achieved grades 9-4 in English and maths, with 36% securing grades 9-5*.

Dean Rosembert, Principal at the academy said

“We are immensely proud of our students—not only for their academic achievements but for how these results are broadening their horizons and unlocking exciting opportunities across Norfolk, Suffolk, and beyond.

Whether they are pursuing apprenticeships, further education, or specialist training, our pupils are stepping confidently into the next stage of their lives. Many of our Year 11s will be continuing their studies at Sir Isaac Newton and Jane Austen Sixth Form and we’d like to wish them all the very best for their bright futures ahead.”

Pupils excelled at an impressive range of subjects, with more than 80% of pupils achieving strong passes especially in statistics, modern foreign languages and separate sciences.

“This has exceeded every expectation - I've raised the bar really high to get into university and this has rocketed my opportunity to study Further Maths by taking facilitating subjects in Science and Engineering. I’m looking to study at either Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form or East Norfolk Sixth Form and really value the opportunity to study with the very best in the country.”

Caleb, also achieved grades 8s and 9s across all subjects has secured his place at East Norfolk Sixth Form in September to study Law.

Caleb said:

“I’m unsure what I want to do at university, but this has given me time to think about all the opportunities that were given to me. Being a House Leader gave me more experience to think further about other avenues I hadn’t considered before.”

Zi Yan has achieved outstanding academic success, securing eight top grades across all subjects, including the prestigious Grade 9 in Mathematics. This September, she will begin her studies at East Norfolk Sixth Form, where she will pursue A-levels in mathematics, biology, chemistry, and further mathematics — a clear indication of her passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Zi Yan shared:

"While I’m still exploring my options for university, these results have opened up exciting possibilities in STEM fields. My time at Charter as a Senior House Leader gave me valuable leadership experience and helped me consider career paths I hadn’t thought about before. I’m looking forward to discovering where my interests in maths and science can take me."
