Technology Department Expands with Exciting New ‘Core’ Rotation
Back
We are delighted to announce the expansion of our Technology Department with the introduction of a brand-new ‘Core’ rotation, giving students the opportunity to develop practical skills in electronics and soldering. This exciting addition complements our existing focus on the four main areas of technology and sustainability: Food and Nutrition, Product Design, Core, and Textiles.
The new Core rotation allows pupils to explore hands-on electronics, using industry-standard soldering equipment to design and build their own circuits. This practical experience not only strengthens their understanding of technology but also prepares them for future STEM opportunities.
Miss Baxter, Second in Department, shared her enthusiasm:
“This development is a fantastic step forward for our curriculum. By introducing soldering and electronics, we’re giving students the chance to apply their creativity and problem-solving skills in a real-world context.”
Students are already embracing the new tools with excitement. One Year 8 pupil commented:
“I’ve never used soldering equipment before, and now I can make something that actually works! It’s really fun and makes me want to learn more about how things are made.”
This initiative reflects our commitment to providing engaging, future-focused learning experiences that inspire the next generation of innovators.
