Over 600 pupils dash for EACH in Festive Santa Run
Back
On Monday 15th December 2025 the pupils in year 7-10 at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy took part in their annual Santa Run on the seafront cross country course. Over 600 pupils took part on the day supported by staff.
Year 7&8 were first up from 9am to complete the course which takes place every year and marks the end of the fitness unit of work. Pupils represent their Houses as part of a competition and the school teams up with East Anglian Childrens Hospices (EACH) to raise some money for seriously sick children in East Anglia.
After break from 11am was the turn of the year 9&10 to complete their runs. There was a great atmosphere for both events on the day with pupils bringing in donations and sponsor money they had managed to collect leading up to the event. As part of the event pupils were able to wear Christmas jumpers for the day and each pupil could either bring their own Santa hat or if they made a donation got given one.
The weather was cold as expected but the sun shone down to make the events more enjoyable. We were graced with a visit from Santa himself who decided to get some fitness work in just before the holidays and joined in both runs putting in good performances and adding to the festivities.
A special mention must go out to all of the staff and parents that supported the events making them such a great occasion.
The House results were as follows: (position = points so lowest is best)
