Basketball Trust 2026 – Tournament Round‑Up
Back
Our Basketball squads lit up the courts at the UEA on Thursday 5th February, serving up a day packed with grit, teamwork and standout performances at the annual 3v3 Tournament.
Year 7 kicked things off in style. The girls stormed to four confident wins—taking down Hethersett, King Edward VII, Hewett and Wayland—and kept every other game impressively tight. The boys faced fierce competition but worked hard to earn a well‑deserved victory over Wayland after a nail‑biting finish.
In Year 8, both the boys’ and girls’ teams showed real determination, each securing three wins from seven and pushing their opponents all the way in the remaining matches. The Year 10 girls may have taken a few heavy losses, but their relentless team spirit shone through every game—commendable from start to finish.
The Year 10 boys delivered one of the day’s strongest performances: five wins from seven, defeating East Point, Jane Austen, Thetford, Cromer and Wayland in a series of hard‑fought, high‑intensity contests.
There was more to celebrate in Year 9, where Lukas and Samuel impressed so much that officials invited them to attend the Great Yarmouth Basketball Club—an exciting opportunity and well-earned recognition of their natural talent. On court, the Year 9 boys claimed five wins from seven, including victories over Hethersett, Hewett, Jane Austen, Thetford and Cromer, with their closest battle a razor‑thin 7–8 loss to Wayland.
But the undisputed stars of the day were the Year 9 girls—Hettie, Pepper, Francesca and Molly who delivered a dominating, undefeated run. Across a series of six‑minute games, they racked up an incredible 38 baskets while conceding only five. Their teamwork, pace and precision set the standard for the entire tournament.
A special congratulations goes to Molly, voted Player of the Tournament for the Year 9 girls. Her all‑round game—clinical shooting, dribbling, sharp passing and fearless attacking —made her a standout in an already exceptional team. A thoroughly deserved honour. Well done, Molly!
