On Wednesday 4th March, two of our Eco‑Schools student leaders travelled to East Norfolk Sixth Form for the Climate Action Collaboration Event, a gathering of young climate champions from across Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and the East Coast.

From the moment they arrived, our pupils brought energy, curiosity and real purpose. They represented Charter with pride—asking sharp questions, sharing practical ideas, and showing how student voice can drive meaningful climate action in schools and communities.

Hosted in East Norfolk 6th cinema, the programme blended expert insight with hands‑on workshops and collaborative planning. Highlights included workshops exploring “Six Inches of Soil”, why healthy soils matter for food and nature, "Sustainable Food", from farm to fork and how schools can lead the way and "Offshore Wind Farms", our coast at the forefront of clean energy.

Throughout, our students worked well with peers from other schools, educators, and sector experts to co‑design practical actions they can implement back at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy, including our own Ecological on site.

Huge thanks to East Norfolk Sixth Form for hosting a warm, well‑organised day, and to regional facilitators and contributors including UEA’s Tyndall Centre (Schools Climate Hub), Natural England, Anglian Water, and special thanks to our own Ms Aslangul (Eco‑Schools Coordinator) for leading the visit and championing student leadership every step of the way.
