Families of Great Yarmouth Charter Academy can feel incredibly proud of our Year 11 pupils, who spent a truly memorable weekend at the beautiful Hautbois Activity Centre in late April. Bathed in glorious sunshine, the setting provided the perfect backdrop for a unique blend of focused revision and unforgettable outdoor adventure.

Across the weekend, pupils dedicated themselves to an additional 12 hours of intensive English revision, carefully structured and delivered by their teachers. These sessions were designed to build confidence, sharpen exam technique and strengthen key knowledge at a crucial point in the GCSE journey. It was fantastic to see the determination, maturity and commitment shown by every student, qualities that will undoubtedly serve them well in the weeks ahead.

But this weekend was about more than just revision. Hautbois offered pupils the chance to challenge themselves beyond the classroom, building resilience, teamwork and confidence through a wide range of outdoor activities. From kayaking and canoeing on the water, to tackling the high walls and treetop abseiling, pupils embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm. The zip line proved a particular highlight, with students showing courage and encouraging one another every step of the way.

With exclusive use of the estate, pupils and staff were able to spend quality time together. The evenings were especially memorable, as everyone gathered around the campfire, sharing stories, laughter and a well-earned moment to relax after a busy day.

Staff were incredibly proud of how pupils conducted themselves throughout the weekend. Their positivity, respect and willingness to step outside their comfort zones exemplified the very best of our school values. It was a pleasure to see them grow not only academically, but also personally.

As we now move further into the examination period, we want to recognise just how hard this year group has worked. From the classroom to revision sessions and experiences like this camp, they have shown resilience, dedication and a real commitment to achieving their best.

We wish all of our Year 11 pupils the very best for the remainder of their exams. Continue to believe in yourselves—you have prepared well, and you are ready.

Good luck, Class of 2026—we are incredibly proud of you.
