Charter Academy pupils have secured a fantastic third-place finish in this year's Inspiration Trust Maths Challenge, achieving the school's highest-ever placing in the competition.

Seven pupils across all year groups represented the academy in Norwich, where they spent the day tackling a series of demanding mathematical challenges, working collaboratively to solve both theoretical and practical problems alongside teams from secondary schools across the Trust.

Competing against some of the Trust's strongest mathematicians, the team demonstrated outstanding problem-solving, resilience, teamwork and communication skills to finish third overall. Each pupil received a medal and certificate in recognition of their achievement.

Dr Jervis, Second in Department for Maths, praised the pupils for both their academic performance and their conduct throughout the day.

"This is the first time Charter has achieved a podium finish in the Trust Maths Challenge, making this a truly significant achievement. The pupils were impeccably behaved throughout the day and represented the academy brilliantly."

The competition forms part of Great Yarmouth Charter Academy's wider commitment to providing rich STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) opportunities throughout the year. Activities such as the Maths Challenge allow pupils to apply classroom learning to real-world problems, developing the analytical thinking, creativity and teamwork skills that are essential for future careers.

As the UK continues to need talented engineers, scientists, programmers and innovators, experiences like these help inspire the next generation of problem-solvers and open pupils' eyes to the exciting opportunities available within STEM industries.

The academy is proud to offer a growing programme of STEM enrichment, including employer engagement, workplace experiences, engineering-related activities and curriculum opportunities that help pupils understand how mathematics underpins many of the careers of the future.

To add to the celebrations, Dr Jervis also won the event's Teacher Challenge, capping off an excellent day for Charter's mathematicians.

Congratulations to all of our pupils and to Dr Jervis on this outstanding achievement. They are a credit to Great Yarmouth Charter Academy and have set a new benchmark for future teams to aspire to.
