Great Yarmouth Charter Academy is celebrating a remarkable athletics season for four outstanding Year 10 students who have rewritten the record books and firmly established themselves as athletes to watch in the years ahead.

Thiago Boa, Louie, Essien and TJ have enjoyed an exceptional season in the 4x100m relay, producing a series of performances that have showcased not only their speed, but also their teamwork, dedication and competitive spirit.

After showing promise in training and edging closer to the long-standing record of 48.9 seconds, the quartet took their performances to another level when it mattered most. At the Teatime Athletics Competition, they recorded an impressive 49.3 seconds despite cool and breezy conditions.

Their standout moment arrived at the District Athletics Finals, where the team delivered a stunning performance of 47.2 seconds. In doing so, they smashed the previous school record and crossed the finish line more than three seconds ahead of the competition. Their exceptional run also earned them the prestigious Foreman Trophy for the top performance of the entire District Finals.

Just two days later, the boys travelled to Norwich for the Inspiration Trust Athletics Finals. Competing in extremely hot conditions, they once again rose to the occasion, recording 47.8 seconds and setting a new Trust record.

These achievements are a testament to the hard work, commitment and determination shown by all four students throughout the season. Their performances have not only brought success to the academy but have also highlighted the exciting athletic talent emerging within our Year 10 cohort.

With another year still to come, this talented group have already established themselves as one of the most successful relay teams in the academy's history. We look forward to following their progress and watching what they achieve next.

Congratulations to Thiago, Louie, Essien and TJ on an outstanding season and two record-breaking performances.
