A short blog piece from a parents’ perspective about this months parent engagement event in Year 11:

As parents, we all want to see our children succeed in school. But with the ever-increasing demands of academic life, it can be a challenge to help our young people to stay on track. That's why I was thrilled to attend a recent event at Charter that offered a unique opportunity for parents to learn about revision techniques, schedules, and get expert advice on our children’s progress and next steps.

The event was well-organised with over 40 teachers to give on hand advice and featured a range of activities designed to help parents better understand the academic challenges their children face. The school's teachers were on hand to offer guidance and support, answering questions and providing personalised advice on how to help our kids succeed.

One of the most helpful aspects of the event was the opportunity to learn about different revision techniques. We were shown by the Head of Year, Miss Savage, how to structure revision sessions, how to make use of regular recall, and how to create effective study notes. These techniques were incredibly useful, and I'm confident that they will help my child to study more effectively.

Another helpful aspect of the event was the opportunity to learn about time management and scheduling. We were given practical advice on how to create a study schedule that works for our child's needs, and how to help them manage their time more effectively by understanding the pressure points of the year ahead and when the real exams start- for example- the importance of Charters breakfast club to help young people settle, focus and relax in time for the 9am start.

Overall, the event was a great success. It was well-organised, informative, and engaging. As a parent, it was incredibly reassuring to know that the academy is committed to helping our children succeed, and that there is a wealth of expert knowledge available to us. I came away from the event feeling empowered and equipped to help my child achieve their academic goals.

Dean Rosembert, the academy Principal said,

“We were thrilled to see over 110 families and 250 people attending the event this week to support our Year 11 working toward their final mock exams. It's clear that parents are keen to support their children's academic progress, and we're committed to providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to do so. We're delighted that so many families found the event useful and informative, and we hope to continue to build on this success in the future."
