How to apply
The admission round for entry in September 2022 is open from September 2021. The closing date for applications is the 1st September 2022.
Choosing a sixth form is a very important decision. We want to make that decision as easy as possible and support you every step of the way.
It's easy to apply for a place at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy. You can either apply directly via our website or through www.helpyouchoose.org.
Our core entry requirements are six or more GCSEs at grade 5 or above, and at least a 5 in English and Mathematics.
You will also need to achieve the minimum grade required in the subjects you wish to study at A-level. If you are new to a subject we will consider achievement in the GCSE that most closely corresponds.
Interviews are an important part of our application process. They give us the opportunity to explore your strengths and interests and provide advice and guidance.
You and your child have the right to appeal if your child has been refused a place at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy.
If your child was refused admission because they didn’t meet the entry requirements as specified above, the panel will only uphold the appeal if it considers that the decision was unreasonable based on the information available. For example, if there are specific reasons or special circumstances that meant your child was not able to get the required GCSEs at the relevant grades.
Please complete and return an attached appeal form with the reasons for the appeal. Once the form is received an appeal hearing will be held within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals, or within 30 school days for an in-year admission application.
